Your website in one day.
Fast. Affordable. Beautiful.
Are you stuck trying to DIY your own website? Overwhelmed by the technology and platform choices? If you want a custom site, but you don’t want to spend a fortune or drag out the process, you’ve come to the right place.
Welcome to Website in a Day.
Why Website in a Day?
I’m Hilary Andersen, professional website and graphic designer. I’ve been designing and building custom websites for many years. The process can be a long one, with a lot of backs and forths between my clients and me. And when things get drawn out, costs often add up. I knew there had to be a better way. That’s why I’ve streamlined the process to be more efficient and affordable for clients who want simple, beautiful custom sites. All in one day.
I’ll custom-design and build your site to suit the personality of your brand. Each site is mobile-friendly and easy to update. In fact, video training is included, so you can edit your new WordPress site yourself.
The Process
We start with a phone call to discover what you’re looking for in your new site. We discuss your target audience and the services you offer. We go over what content and images you already have and what else might be needed to create your new site.
We schedule your design-and-build day.
After our planning call, I’ll send you a detailed list of the content you’ll need to provide as well as a detailed timeline to ensure that we have everything we need to design and build your site on the designated day. If you’d rather have a professional writer develop your content for you, that’s also a service my team offers.
Design-and-Build Day
On the big day, you will have my undivided attention from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time.
First, I’ll send you two design approaches to set the look and feel of your site. After you take a look, we’ll discuss changes/tweaks to be made. From there, we will have a back-and-forth by phone, Skype, and/or email throughout the day until all of your pages are designed and your site looks amazing.
Once our collaborative work is finalized, I’ll do the last clean-ups and your site will be launched.
How it Works
Initial Briefing Session (1 hour)
The first step is to schedule a one-hour Skype call, where I can get to know you and your business objectives, and learn more about what you want to accomplish with your website. This session allows us to hit the ground running and will give you a checklist of everything you will need to provide so that your Website in a Day is fully utilized.
We will review web hosting, domain name, photography, copy, blogging, email list integration, and any other questions/concerns that you may have. Following the call, I will provide a synopsis of what we covered and what our plan is for moving forward.
All content and passwords are due to me four days prior to design-and-build day. That gives me time to do some initial designs, as well as double-check that I have everything I need.
The Big Day: Website Design and Development
First, I’ll show you two optional designs for your new home page. We will discuss what you like and any changes you want to see. From there, I’ll get to work on revising the master design and flow it through the rest of the site. In the late morning, we’ll talk again so I can show you how the site is coming along. For the next few hours, I will continue to work on the site, running layouts by you as they are ready. By around 4:30 p.m., the website will be generally complete.
I will be at your disposal from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time. Should we wrap up early, I am happy to spend the remainder of the day providing any additional graphic design support you may need.
Launch and Training
Once your website is complete, I will add Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools to the site, then submit your site to Google.
You will also receive video training of your site so you are clear on how to make updates yourself.
